New Acquisition Expands Hospital Physician Partners Hospitalist-Based Business
Posted August 27, 2010
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, August 24, 2010 – Hospital Physician Partners, one of the nation’s fastest growing Hospitalist and Emergency Department management groups, has acquired Naples, Florida based Panda/King Group’s (PK) hospital and provider contracts. The move firmly positions Hospital Physician Partners to grow its Hospitalist-based business which has been steadily expanding over the past year with the addition of more than 25 Emergency Medicine and Hospitalist Medicine contracts. “The acquisition of the PK Group contracts is a real value that will have immediate impact on our existing Hospitalist-based business,” says Jeffrey Schillinger, Hospital Physician Partners CEO. “PK’s team consists of seasoned clinicians who deliver quality patient care and also understand the level of partnership and collaboration which is required with hospital leadership in order to effectively integrate ED and Hospitalist programs.”
PK Group has been managing Hospitalist contracts in the Southwest Florida area for over five years. Dr. Sunil Pandya, co-founder and former CEO of the PK Group, sees great things ahead. “We have developed a singularly unique program incorporating best practices from around the country,” says Pandya, “Hospital Physician Partners is now in a strong position to implement all of our solutions a la carte to hospitals currently struggling with their inpatient services.” Pandya will serve as the Chief Medical Officer for Hospital Physician Partners’ Hospitalist division which will be run from PK’s former offices in Naples, Fl.
As a result of the purchase, Hospital Physician Partners clinicians now practice Hospitalist Medicine at NCH Downtown Naples Hospital, NCH North Naples Hospital and Physicians Regional Medical Center – Collier and Pine Ridge locations. Nationally, Hospital Physician Partners manages Hospitalist programs in Arizona, Texas, Florida, North Carolina, West Virginia, Georgia and Kentucky with plans for expansion throughout the rest of the U.S.
“Our experience and knowledge creates a clinically advantageous environment for our clients,” says Schillinger. “We offer an integrated management approach with local, clinically active leadership working alongside our providers and hospital administration to address issues and concerns early before they become problems.” Dr. Pandya notes that the relationship between Hospitalist programs and the Emergency Department is a close one and they depend on one another greatly. That approach is already being exercised as many of Hospital Physician Partners current Hospitalist contracts include management of both Emergency and Hospitalist Medicine programs.
