Jeffrey Schillinger
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Schillinger has been involved in Medical Management administration since 1993. He graduated with a B.S. degree in economics and business from the State University of New York in 1978 and became a licensed certified public accountant in 1980. Prior to entering healthcare he was a division president for Titan Sports (World Wrestling Federation).
David Schillinger, M.D., FACEP
President & Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Schillinger has practiced Emergency Medicine since 1986. A graduate of Hahnemann University School of Medicine he went on to complete a residency in Emergency Medicine at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center in 1986. He has authored numerous articles and has co-authored three books on Infectious Diseases in Emergency Medicine. He is a former faculty member at Nova Southeastern University College of Medicine and is currently an instructor in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Dr. Schillinger is licensed to practice medicine in approximately 25 states and is clinically active with the Company’s accounts.
Patrick Chunn, CPA, MBA, CMA
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Chunn joined Hospital Physician Partners in May 2008. Mr. Chunn is a CPA, MBA, and CMA with over 25 years of healthcare experience. His background includes finance, operations and M&A responsibilities; having served in senior level positions for several privately held and publicly traded healthcare organizations. Mr. Chunn began his career at Ernst & Young as a healthcare auditor. At Hospital Physician Partners, Mr. Chunn’s responsibilities include overseeing finance, accounting, budgeting, tax matters and external and internal reporting. He received his B.S. in Business/Accounting from the University of Missouri – St. Louis, and his MBA from Lincoln University.
Ed Weinberg, MA, MPH
President, Physician Services
Mr. Weinberg has over 30 years of healthcare experience, the last 10 of which have been in the practice management arena specifically focused on emergency departments. He received an MA in Medical Sociology from Brown University and an MPH from the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public Health.
Sarah Crass - Esquire
Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer
Prior to joining Hospital Physician Partners in 2007, Mrs. Crass practiced in both federal and state courts in the areas of complex commercial litigation and civil trial practice as well as assisting companies with general corporate and contractual issues with the law firm of Rogers Towers, P.A. Mrs. Crass is a member of the American Bar Association and the Jacksonville Bar Association and is admitted to the Florida Bar, the New York Bar as well as the New Jersey Bar. She is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts of the Middle, Southern and Northern Districts of Florida, the United States District Court of New Jersey and the United States District Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Ms. Crass received her Juris Doctor from the Boston University School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida.
LaMon Norton, RN
Senior Vice President, Medical Affairs
Ms. Norton has been with the company since 2002. She has more than 15 years of hospital management experience, 13 of which have been directly related to the Emergency Department. She is a graduate of Lincoln Land College and the University of Alabama and holds a degree in nursing.
David Susskind
Vice President, Hospitalist Operations
David brings over eleven years of direct healthcare and practice management experience to our organization. Most recently spending the last two years with IPC-The Hospitalist Company as their Director of Business Development & Practice Management. He has been in the healthcare field for more than 20 years and brings extensive experience in business development, contracting, operations, provider relations, product development and management as well as compliance. David earned a Certificate in Healthcare Finance from University of Florida and a Master of Public Administration and a BS in Healthcare Administration from Long Island University.
Sal Abrams, M.D.
Vice President Medical Affairs
Dr. Abrams attended Medical School at the UNAM in Mexico City, where he grew up. After he finished Medical School, he returned to Chicago, where he completed his Residency and began his practice. He is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Abrams has been involved in Medical Administration most of his professional career, acting as Medical Director of the Emergency Department at most of the facilities where he has been on staff. He was also President / CEO of Emergency and Ambulatory Care Consultants, an Emergency Department management company before moving to San Antonio, Texas, where he now resides. He was the Medical Director of one of our facilities in San Antonio (Southwest General Hospital) from 2002 to 2009, when he became VP of Medical Affairs. He is now responsible for overseeing the operations of our Emergency Department contracts in Texas, Louisiana, Colorado and Nevada.
Mark Davis, RN
Regional Vice President Clinical Operations
Mark’s clinical nursing background is diverse and includes years in emergency departments and advanced cardiac care. His dedicated leadership resulted in one of the first cardiac CT programs in the nation. He continues to be active in process and policy development nationally in diagnostic cardiac testing. Mark’s exceptional patient customer service is ongoing, and he continues to develop quick and effective process improvements.
Jennifer Host, M.D.
Vice President Medical Affairs
Dr. Host joined Hospital Physician Partners as a hospital Medical Director in Georgia in 2007 after returning from Afghanistan having served in the U.S. Army. A practicing board certified Emergency Medicine physician since 2000, Dr. Host attended medical school at Rutgers Medical School and completed her residency at St. Lukes Roosevelt Medical Center in New York. Dr. Host now serves as Vice President of Medical Affairs with primary responsibility for Georgia where Hospital Physician Partners maintains Emergency Medicine management contracts.
Mark Mathurin, M.D.
Vice President Medical Affairs
Dr. Mathurin’s medical undergraduate education was provided by the University of Wisconsin Madison. He completed his Family Medicine residency at Phoenix Baptist Hospital in Arizona, where he was given the award for Humanism in Medicine. That was followed by a four year stint in the US Air Force, where he was a primary contributor to overhauling the Primary Care system. He also oversaw the operations of the Pediatric, Internal Medicine, and Family Medicine clinics at Luke Air Force Base. When he left the Air Force, Dr. Mathurin accepted the position as assistant director at the Wickenburg ED before becoming the Medical Director at Tempe St Luke’s under the EDCare aegis. His role has since expanded with assumption of the Medical Director role at Phoenix St Luke’s as well as Regional VP for the Arizona-Nevada market. He maintains a close working relationship with the CEOs as well as the market division head for Lasis Healthcare.
Andrew Pacos, M.D.
Senior Vice President, Medical Affairs
Dr. Pacos has been with the company since 2004. He is a graduate of SUNY in Buffalo, New York and performed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He has 15 years hands-on experience in various Emergency Departments. He was the Medical Director for Kaleida Health, the largest healthcare system in Western New York. He is a licensed instructor in ACLS and PALS.
Shawn Wagner, MMS, PA-C
Regional Vice President Clinical Operations
Shawn joins the Hospital Physician Partners team bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in emergency department medicine. He earned his Masters Degree in Emergency Medicine from Alderson-Broaddus College and is currently an adjunct Professor of Physician Assistant Studies at East Carolina University. Shawn has been in clinical practice for 18 years, 15 of which have been in Emergency Medicine. His interests are PA/NP Practice and Trauma/Critical Care.
Paul A. Veach, MD, FACEP
Vice President Medical Affairs
With a background as an EMT and Paramedic and after serving 11 years in the military including a two year stint on a Presidential Support Task Force, Dr. Veach attended Medical School at THE USC (University of South Carolina) in Columbia, SC. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency in Arkansas where he has lived for the last 20 years. The immediate past president of Arkansas ACEP and currently serving as an Arkansas Councilor to ACEP, Dr. Veach is an avid supporter of ER Metric and Patient Satisfaction Initiatives. Prior to coming to HPP in April 2012, Dr. Veach was the Divisional CMO for an ER Management company and had oversight of nearly 65 ERs. He has been the Music Minister in a local church in the Little Rock area for nearly 18 years. He and his wife of 32 years have also recorded 4 Sacred Music CDs. Dr. Veach has the responsibility for overseeing the operations of our Emergency Departments in Arkansas.
Frank Paul, DO, FACOEP, FACEP, NM/OMM
VP Medical Affairs-Dean of HPP University
Dr. Paul is Board Certified and Residency trained in Emergency Medicine and is also boarded in Neuormusculoskeletal Medicine. He is a 1990 graduate of University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM) and completed a pre-doctoral teaching fellowship at the UNECOM. He has been granted Fellowships in both colleges of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Paul trained formally in problem based learning directly under one of the founders in the field, the late Dr. Howard Barrows, MD. He has worked clinically, administratively and academically in the field of emergency Medicine for 21 years and has directed multiple paramedic training programs. He is an instructor for the American College of Surgeons Advanced Trauma Life Support course and proctors oral boards in emergency medicine for the ACOEP.
Dr. Paul is well published in medical journals and text books. He writes and reviews questions for the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners and judges research presentations, papers and posters for the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians. He has held teaching positions as the director of education and research at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, (a program he developed from its inception) and as the Emergency Medicine Residency program director at Kingman Regional Medical Center in Kingman, Arizona. Dr. Paul also has the experience of functioning as the physician emergency department Medical Director of a new hospital through its opening and closing.
Thomas Goltry, MBA
Division President
Mr. Goltry has over 20 years of healthcare and physician practice experience with the last 15 years focused on Emergency Medicine and Hospital Medicine. Mr. Goltry has served in senior leadership positions in both public and private organizations and served nine years in the US Air Force. He received his MBA from the University of Illinois.
